Highlights From the South Australia Industry Dinner and Networking Event.

On Thursday, 22 September ARCIA held their South Australia Annual Industry Dinner and Networking event at the National Wine Centre.

Comms Connect held seminars during the day which featured topics such as LTE technology, cyber warfare, electrical equipment for hazardous areas and DMR.

The dinner once again had a great turn out with just under 80 people in attendance and a great mix from all areas of the radio industry. Rod Jameson was the guest speaker and spoke about his time in the AFL, SANFL and his radio career to the full attention of the predominantly South Australian crowd.  To thank Rod for his time we held a fundraiser for the Childhood Cancer Association, a charity Rod had been involved with for many years. On the night we raised $1,126 with every cent going to the charity.

ARCIA presented the South Australia Industry Professional of the Year Award to Mario D’Agostino from the Country Fire Service.  Mario was an integral part of one of the largest radio contracts outside the GRN in South Australia and he was not only involved in negotiating and defining requirements for the contract but he was also instrumental in its implementation over the last couple of years. Mario showed an innovative approach to maximising business benefits from the contract, including application development and remote area access.

The highly anticipated drawing of the door prize, donated by CSE Tetracom, was once again a highlight of the night, Garry Mettner from Simoco was the lucky winner and walked away with the bottle of 2010 Penfolds Grange.
