ARCIA has made the sad decision to defer the ARCIA August events in Perth

Regrettably, the current problems with the COVID-19 outbreaks in Sydney has led ARCIA to make the sad decision to defer our planned Perth events (Industry Networking Dinner and the Professional Development Training sessions).

With the present COVID-19 outbreaks in Sydney having spread to other states, it was only a matter of time until the border closures came into force again. The advice this week that the Western Australian Government was restricting travel access to those of us in the Eastern states has meant that the ARCIA committee has been forced to defer our planned Perth events in mid-August.

The combination of having three of our four trainers for the Professional Development Training coming from interstate, meant they could have been directly impacted by either mandatory isolation for two weeks to get into Perth, or possibly two weeks of hotel quarantine to get back home again.

Based on this situation, the ARCIA committee made the sad decision to defer our Perth events until later in the year, certainly after the present risk factors have diminished. We feel that it is highly likely that it may now be early in 2022 before we can plan for Perth again with any degree of confidence.

That said, we are optimistic that it will be ‘third time lucky’ with our events, and that our planned Brisbane events on the 8th and 9th of September will go ahead as planned. However, other than booking a venue with a minimal deposit, we will monitor the situation on a continuing basis before making final commitments.

We are really looking forward for the opportunity to continue with industry training, as well as run our networking events to bring some joy and conviviality back into our industry. We hope to bring better news over the coming weeks and we will look at the possibility of having some smaller ‘Sundowner’ events in various locations over the next couple of months to try and bring our industry personnel together to some extent.
