Thanks, QLD, for another great year of networking!
On 16 November, the final ARCIA QLD Sundowner for 2023 occurred at The Greek Club in South Brisbane. ARCIA was thrilled to see many from our community attend this special event.
Our members and partners were well looked after on the night, and we all enjoyed the opportunity to chat, network and learn from our peers in the industry. To see our critical comms community so engaged was, as always, great to see.
This was a special Sundowner event, as Hamish Duff, ARCIA President, presented the 2023 Industry Excellence Award for Major Project, to the Queensland Government Wireless Network Contract Directorate, who were joint winners with NSW Telco Authority in October, but who were unable to present to in Melbourne on the night. We were thrilled we could congratulate, acknowledge and celebrate with them in front of their peers at the Sundowner.
Accepting this award on the night from Hamish were QLD GWN’s Deputy Director General, Dallas Stower and Nick Ashby, GWN RF Engineer.
Dallas Stower, Deputy Director-General, said “At the very inception of the Queensland GWN, interoperability was seen as key benefit of a modern digital radio network. Whilst interoperability between Police, Fire and Ambulance are key, the ability to interconnect our GWN with the NSW PSN to enable network roaming and public safety collaboration across state borders is a significant national achievement. The interstate roaming service project is also a great demonstration of collaboration between the respective Queensland and New South Wales teams that worked together to deliver this key capability for our public safety agencies. Thank you to ARCIA and its members for this recognition by industry peers.”
Congratulations again for delivering an Australian-first Interstate Roaming Service – enabling seamless radio communications for emergency services when crossing state borders.
