ARCIA Live: Brisbane events welcomed by industry

On August 18th, ARCIA hosted a live workshop and networking dinner in QLD! The ARCIA QLD Networking Dinner was held on Thursday, August 18, and was very well attended. Those who were there had a great night! The Greek Club in South Brisbane was an excellent venue and the food and networking were appreciated by all.

ARCIA Professional Development Training

During the day of the networking dinner, The Greek Club was also the venue for an ARCIA Professional Development Training session. The course was on “Antenna design and testing,” with the morning dedicated to antenna and transmission line theory, followed later in the day by practical hands-on testing with the latest version of antenna test equipment.

These ARCIA Professional Development Training sessions are designed to increase the skills level of our industry personnel, and all attendees speak highly of the content and experiences.

Celebrations and awards

As always, the announcement of the Industry Professional of the Year was a highlight, although this year with a slight twist as we celebrated both the 2022 winner and the 2021 winner.

Winner of the 2022 Industry Professional of the Year award winner was Tony van Starrex—a long-serving member of the industry in Queensland. Tony has always had a reputation with clients as being the ‘go-to man’ to solve any system issues, and he has also been involved in the design and maintenance of many radio systems for over four decades. We look forward to Tony being the Queensland nominee for the national Peter Wallace Award at the Industry Gala Dinner in Melbourne on October 19, 2022.

We also recognised the 2021 Industry Professional of the Year award winner—Glen McCarrick—as there had not been any local events during the pandemic.

Congratulations to you both!
