Celebrating the 50th presentation of the prestigious Jonathan Livingstone Seagull Award
In addition to the Excellence Awards that take place and are presented by ARCIA at the Gala Dinner, the long-running Jonathan Livingstone Seagull Award (JLS) is also presented. Initiated by Ian Hyde from Philips-TMC in 1977 , this year was the 50th presentation, recognising someone who has not only been successful on an individual level but has also contributed to the overall benefit of the communications industry.
Chosen not by the Excellence Awards judging panel, but by former winners of the JLS Award, for the first 30+ years it was presented on a separate occasion, coming together with the ARCIA Excellence Awards almost 20 years ago.
This year’s winner, we are very proud to say, was Paul Davis, ARCIA’s very own CEO – someone it was decided was worthy of recognition by his peers, for his dedication and commitment to the industry during his career, helping to grow and shape the sector since he became involved, via the launch of Radio Comms Connect (now Comms Connect) back in 2007. The benefits to industry and users from these forums has seen significant improvements for all over the years.
