ARCIA Awards Presentation – Online Success!
This year, the annual ARCIA Industry Excellence Awards were celebrated via an online Zoom meeting. This was because the annual dinner couldn’t be held under the pandemic restrictions. The event was held on the afternoon of Friday 27th November, and around 200 industry personnel joined in – from around 60 locations around Australia – to celebrate.
Andrew Wyborn was the Master of Ceremonies for the afternoon and he ran a Kahoot! online quiz to help people get involved in the event. Hamish Duff gave the President’s address and Andrew then hosted the awards.
The 2020 Industry Excellence Awards Winners
This year’s winners of the ARCIA Industry Excellence Awards were —
- Professional Sales – Elisha McCann
- Customer Service – Alex Dalgleish
- Engineering Elegance – Wei Gong
- Peter Wallace Industry Achievement Award – Michael Clark
- Technical Excellence – Brayden Hall
- New Talent – Kevin Vo
- Community Service – Tony McTackett
- Industry Apprentices – Jai Gibson (Karera Comms) and Trung Tran (Radlink QLD)
The Jonathan Livingstone Award was introduced by Chris Kelly, who then handed over to Ian Hyde for the announcement. Ian was the originator of the award back in 1977, and this year is the first time since the award came under the stewardship of ARCIA that Ian has been the presenter.
The recipient of the prestigious Jonathan Livingstone Award was Mark Mezzapica, well known throughout the industry and respected by all who he comes into contact with. Ian Hyde outlined Mark’s background and highlighted that Mark is known for taking the time to pass his education and experience on to others, a true Jonathan Livingstone trait.
Congratulations to all of the winners, and also congratulations to the nominees of these awards. You have all been recognised by your peers and that is a satisfying situation for everyone.
Kahoot! Trivia Competition
After the awards were completed, Andrew Wyborn finished out the afternoon with another Kahoot! Trivia session. A close finish saw Team Simoco take out the win, and they will receive a morning tea – compliments of Muffin Break – for showing their breadth of knowledge in trivia.
Although the evening was quite different to our regular Industry Gala Dinner event, it was certain a memorable way to celebrate the ARCIA Annual Industry Excellence Awards, and we are now looking forward to 2021 and a new concept for the Industry Gala Dinner.
